Chile's Peach Blossom

Funny, I needed a painting for a Spring Show @ McGuffey Art Center for April, but the blossoms aren't open yet . . . . So, I had to rely on a photo for this painting. Also, I will be in Florida when they DO bloom, but will be painting down there . . . Life is GOOD!  30" x 40" oil on canvas, framed $1,500

Douthat State Park Woods & Stream

Perhaps I made the water too blue and will tone it back some, but I was amazed at how Fall-like the woods looked with all the leaves both on the beech trees and ground. This was last Saturday with five other ladies which I posted earlier . . . it had just stopped raining and the woods were so beautiful with the stream, then the sun came out for a bit!  12" x 12" oil on canvas, framed $250

Painted this in my studio on a cold winter day which made me think of the spring and summer that is coming SOON! Fun to paint such a different shape for me, I had never done a tall vertical before. Re-posting Sycamore Trees, Crozet, VA

I went back today with this painting to re-work a few parts that I wasn't satisfied with, and am much happier with it now! Even though the main tree in in the center, I felt that enough was happening with all the chaos of the branches, it was OK. 12" x 14" oil on board, framed, $250.
If you go to this site, you will see the map of the US and how many artist are participating in this challenge of 30 Paintings In 30 Days! I didn't sign up properly so I am not apart of this, but am enjoying the challenge anyway :  )

Quick Paint, Jarman's Gap, Crozet

A quick painting, done in an hour as a study on Blair Park Rd next to where I live. I am standing next to a gate but it doesn't block my view at all, but is in front of the canvas. I wanted to see what I could do in an hours time, before the sun went down behind the mountain. (When I took the photo on site, I had not finished the painting.) I went back over the painting . . .   8 1/2" x 8 1/2" oil on canvas.

James River, Summer 2014

I was told once that if the sky is cloudy or gray, as a painter, it is always better to paint water since it has a reflective nature, you capture more light. I realized my last three of five paintings have to do with water, and it has been cold and gray out! This is from a photo from the James River this past summer, shown here with the frame that my husband makes.  8" x 8" oil on board, framed $125
